The first application of a flite efoil is in surfing. This is perhaps the biggest application of a flite efoil. Another application of a flite efoil pertains to military usage. In contrast to the application in surfing, flite efoil applications in military boats date back to the 1900s. The efoils were used on crafts such as craftsTurya class torpedo boat, Matka and Sarancha class missile boats. The application made it easy for the navy to launch missiles from the boats because at high speeds the boats would lift.
